Key air conditioning facts

There are four important factors that add to the comfort of your conservatory, home or office:

  • Temperature
  • Cleanliness
  • Humidity
  • System Control

Air Conditioning usually involves:

Heating and Cooling
No matter what the temperature is outside, we can provide a system that will make sure you are comfortable in your conservatory, home or office.

Adding or Removing Moisture
In the winter, dry air can cause static electricity, itchy skin, damage to home furnishings and more. Adding humidity can be a good thing because it makes air feel warmer and more comfortable. In the summer, it is preferable to remove humidity so indoor air feels cooler and less sticky.

Cleaning or Filtering Air
The fact is, with dust, pollen, chemical fumes and cigarette smoke, the inside of your home can become stale and polluted. Air conditioning can alleviate these problems with optional filters and therefore add another level of comfort to your living or working space.

Today's super-efficient systems often use 40% less energy to cool your home or office than a system that is 10 years old. Improved energy efficiency also means fewer non-replaceable fossil fuels will be used to heat/cool your home or office. New equipment is super sealed so as not to leak CFC's that have been associated with the destruction of the earth's protective ozone layer. The equipment we install features non-CFC refrigerants and are therefore 100% 'ozone-friendly'.

The indoor unit of a 'split' air conditioning system typically creates noise levels of 34-40dBA, depending on the size of model and fan speed. When you consider that each 3dBA increase in level gives an apparent DOUBLING of noise levels and we normally speak around 55dBA - these are surprising quiet units.

Room air conditioning costs start at just under £1,000 (including infra red remote controller) for a 'split' type of system consisting of a quiet internal unit designed to circulate cool air and an external unit to expel warm air from the room into the surrounding atmosphere. A site survey will determine what size of unit is appropriate and will take into consideration whether a unit which provides both cooling AND heating is advisable.
